Justin Hakes, 34, of Columbus, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and four counts of child endangering during a Friday traffic stop.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department stopped Hakes’ van for a speed violation on U.S. Route 33 and Township Road 94 about 5 p.m.
Upon making contact with the driver, Hakes reportedly showed signs of impairment. The driver completed field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for OVI.
Four juvenile children were present in the vehicle with him.
Once at the Logan County Jail, the defendant provided a breath test and tested 0.238. He was also cited for the speed violation and was then booked into the jail.
• Nathan Sayler, 35, of St. Paris, was charged with OVI and one count of child endangering and was cited for speed during a Saturday evening traffic stop.
Officers reportedly stopped his vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on State Route 235 near County Road 27 about 10:15 p.m.
Upon making contact with the driver, Sayler showed signs of impairment and he failed field sobriety tests. Riding in the back seat with Sayler was his 6-yr-old stepdaughter.
Sayler was transported to the jail, where his breath test revealed a 0.127 blood alcohol content level.
