Alice “Arlene” Ferryman Phelps, 88, of North Lewisburg passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, in Memorial Gables in Marysville.
She was born Aug.17, 1928, in Woodstock, a daughter of the late Albert and Georgia Hunt Ferryman. She attended Woodstock High School and was a 1946 graduate of Fairbanks. She was a Boy Scout den mother, 4-H leader and custodian at North Lewisburg United Methodist Church for several years, where she was a member. She loved baking cakes, cooking and being a homemaker.
She is survived by daughters, Pamela Spain, Linda Rutan and Alicia (Carl) Davis, all of North Lewisburg, and Judy Jackson of Bellefontaine; sons, Gary (Stephanie) Phelps, Dennis (Chris) Phelps and Douglas (Amelia) Phelps, all of North Lewisburg, and Steven (Connie) Phelps of Bellefontaine; son-in-law, Larry Longberry; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Marion Phelps on Sept. 20, 2003; her daughter, Sharon Longberry; brothers, Wayne, Phil, Vern and Paul Ferryman; granddaughters, Amy Longberry and Madalyn Cara Phelps; great-grandsons, Jordan Edley and Jacob Robert Phelps; and sons-in-law, Paul Rutan and Dan Spain.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, in Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg, where Pastor Brian Brooks officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5. Burial is in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
