Dorothy A. “Dottie” Neill, 89, of East Liberty, passed away peacefully Saturday morning Dec. 31, 2016, at her residence from an extended illness.
She was born July 14, 1927, in Columbus, to the late Roland and Dorothy M. Shannon Sidell. She was very active in the Jerome area where she and her husband, Bob, whom she married April 20, 1947, farmed and were members of the Jerome United Methodist Church. Her husband survives and they recently had moved to East Liberty and had attended the East Liberty United Methodist Church. Dottie enjoyed singing in the choir at both churches.
She was active in her children’s activities with the Brownies and Cub Scouts.
Dottie loved the Lord and spent her life speaking his word. She loved to read, enjoyed bird watching, sewing and nature. She grew the most beautiful flowers year around.
Dottie and Bob loved to spend time in Florida each winter.
In addition to her husband, with whom she would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this year, she is survived by children, David (Janice) Neill, Dan (Bobbie) Neill, Linda Swinehart, Steve (Kathy) Neill, Scott (Pandora) Neill and Jeff Miller; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Miller; and a brother, Bud Sidell
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St. (west State Route 161), Plain City, where the funeral begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, with Pastor Linda Dulin-Moore officiating.
Burial is in Jerome Township Cemetery, Plain City.
