Alberta Velda Herring, 92, of Douglasville, Ga., formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, in the Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Ga.
She was born in Bellefontaine on Sept. 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Lee Pearl and Marie Grace Kelly Vance.
On May 20, 1944, in Bellefontaine, she married Simon Edward Herring and he preceded her in death Jan. 31, 2003. She is also preceded in death by a son, Douglas A. Herring; a sister, Agnes Godfrey; and three brothers, Bruce, Wallace and Gerald Vance.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Marie (Kerry) Haynes of Douglasville, Ga.; a son, Robert J. (Josephine) Herring of Fairborn; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Ann Chapman of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
Alberta was a beautician and owned and managed the Magic Mirror Salon for 42 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Bellefontaine, and enjoyed crocheting.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts officiates a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, in the Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville.
Visitation is from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine.
