Mary Frances Neeley, 87, of Alger, passed away 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, as a result of heart failure, surrounded by her loving family at the Wyngate Senior Living Community in Lima.
She was born in Ada on March 15, 1931, to the late Darrell and Blonda Vida Leonard Dern. On July 11, 1954, she married Lawrence Calvin Neeley and he passed away March 1, 2002.
Her survivors include her children, Michael David (Debra) Neeley and their children, Jason Cox, Jennifer (Patrick) Shambarger, Jessica (Luke) Suarez and Grant Neeley; Brian J. (Diana) Neeley and their children, Matthew (Rochelle) Neeley, Brittany (Michael) Armbruster and Alexis (Samuel) Cox; and Lawrence Calvin (Alyson) Neeley Jr. and their children, Lance (Amy) Neeley and Lawren Neeley; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Kathyn R. Costa.
A graduate of Park College, she earned her master’s degree from Wright State University and was employed as an educator for the Riverside School district, finishing her career teaching the first grade. After retirement, Mary was president of the Adult Literacy Program of Hardin County. She was active in the Audubon Society and many other community activities. She was a member of the Alger First United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher.
She was a great wife, mother and grandmother.

Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday June 24, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, 506 N. Cable Road, Lima, and an hour prior to the 1 p.m. Monday, June 25, funeral in the Alger First United Methodist Church, 101 Montville St., Alger. The Rev. Don Clinger officiates andburial follows in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
