NORTH LEWISBURG — Triad Local Schools recently received a $45,475.44 check from Pioneer Electric Cooperative which represented a rebate for a recently completed energy savings project.
Energy Optimizes worked with Triad officials to retrofit all exterior and interior lighting with LED bulbs, some of which are controlled by motion sensors and some by timers.
A check was presented by Ted Reithman of Pioneer to Rick Wilkins, Triad maintenance supervisor; Connie Cohn, Triad treasurer, and Chris Piper, superintendent of the district.
Earth Day to be celebrated on Simon Kenton Trail
URBANA — To celebrate Earth Day, patrons walking or riding bicycles on the Simon Kenton Trail Sunday, April 22, will be able to tour the NX23 railroad car at 644 Miami St., Urbana, from noon until 4pm.
The NX23 railroad car played a major role during World War II as a caboose and was constructed in 1913 as a box car. The NX23 is owned and preserved by the Champaign County Preservation Alliance.
Murder trial on hold after judge allows late witness
MARYSVILLE — A murder trial has been continued so defense attorneys can prepare for cross-examination of Union County Coroner David Applegate, who was added as a prosecution witness after the trial started.
