Cecil Horne Jr., 77, of Russells Point, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at his home.
Junior was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Paintsville, Ky., to the late Cecil and Opal Hammond Horne. On July 19, 1957, he married the former Margaret “Peg” Herring, in Mt. Victory, and she preceded him in death Nov. 27, 2013. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Junior Lee and Bernard Allen; and five siblings, Mary Horsley, Jane Yelton, Diana O’Hare, Genevieve Farmer and William Horne.
Junior is survived by six children, John Horne of Lakeview, Ginger Foster and Janet (Bill) Haynes, both of Russells Point, Linda (Jeff) Crisp and Bill (Michele) Horne, both of Bellefontaine, and Leslie Kay (Russell) White of Columbus; 12 grandchildren, Erin, Tressie, Travis, Joanna, Samantha, Brandon, Bradley, Joshua, Jacob, Destiny, Ashley and Bill; great-grandchildren, Savanah, Colton, Emma, Ellie, Madison, Caden, Kylie, Evan, Auston, Brooklyn, Marissa, Porscha, Kameryn, Payton, Jordan, McKenize, Kellie, Zoey, Brooklyn, Robbie, Blake, Summer, Cody, Chasen, Terran, Jaslene, Ryann, Payton, Sophia and Brooklyn; and six siblings, Ron (Brenda) Horne of Bellefontaine, Sam (Connie) Horne of East Liberty, Tony (Melinda) Horne of Tipp City, Tom (Watana) Horne of Jacksonville, Fla., Patricia (Dean) Wirick of West Liberty, and Gloria Young of Lakeview.
Junior worked for many years at Millisor Chevrolet in Russells Point. He owned and operated Horne’s Auto Repair outside of DeGraff until retiring. Junior enjoyed music and was a member of the Coachmen Band for many years.
Per Mr. Horne’s wishes, his body was cremated and a memorial service will be at a later date.
