Jean Stanfield, an auxiliary deputy with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, works with youths doing community service for the Logan County Juvenile Court on Wednesday afternoon. The work is being done by a group of juveniles sentenced to community service in Logan County Juvenile Court.
The youths, whose hours vary depending on their offense or number of times in front of Judge Dan Bratka and Jean Stanfield, an auxiliary deputy of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, spend eight hours a day walking the edges of road collecting litter thrown from vehicles.
Logan County Jail Administrator Greg Fitzpatrick said this is the second-year partnership between the sheriff’s office, Logan County Family Court and the Logan
County Solid Waste Management District for the litter pick up. The SWMD provides funds to the sheriff’s office for the auxiliary deputy to supervise the process.
“It’s been a wonderful community service and a great partnership,” Lt. Fitzpatrick said Thursday. “It’s giving the kids a chance to complete their community service and it’s cleaning up our county in the process as well.”
