Alma Fern Plank, 98, of West Liberty, passed away at 5:18 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at Green Hills Care Center.
She was born in Bellefontaine on Dec. 1, 1918, to the late Frank and Lydia Hilty Headings.
On Sept. 7, 1941, she married John Phillip Plank and he preceded her in death, May 8, 2006. She was also preceded in death by a son, Edwin Jay Plank; sisters, Eva Mae Headings and Mary Helen Headings; brother, Tillman Headings; and one grandson.
She is survived by daughters, Susan (Rob) Weseloh of Cape Coral, Fla., and Joyce (Bob) Bazzle of Bellefontaine; son, Gene (Connie) Plank of Bellefontaine; 10 grandchildren; 23 and counting great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Naomi Headings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alma graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1937.
She was a lifelong member of South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty, where Alma was a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, and helped lead the Wayfarers Girls Club. She was a Guild member of Mary Rutan Hospital for 20 years.
Alma enjoyed gardening, cooking, and all arts and crafts. She devoted her Christian life to serve others.
Pastor Matthew Williams will officiate a funeral service at noon Thursday, Dec. 22, at the South Union Mennonite Church, 56 State Route 508, West Liberty, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery, West Liberty.
