Jessica J. Meeks, 38, and Travis L. Meeks, 41, both of Wapakoneta, and Nathaniel F. Clem, 37, address at large, each was lodged in the Logan County Jail Thursday evening on drug-related charges.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 10:25 p.m. to the area of State Route 720 near County Road 54 in reference to a disabled vehicle.
Deputies arrived and made contact with the driver, Mr. Meeks. He reported that ran out of gas, then walked to a nearby house, where he got some gas, but that he had since lost the car keys and was unable to get in the locked car.
He reported his wife, Jessica, was on her way to help and would have a spare key. Deputies ran a records check and determined that both Mr. and Mrs. Meeks had warrants for their arrests.
Mr. Meeks was placed under arrest and during a search, he advised deputies he had heroin and two capped syringes in his pockets. Deputies secured the syringes, heroin and two cell phones that were all in his possession.
Mr. Meeks was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug abuse instruments and he was served warrants from Shelby County for drug possession and Bellefontaine Municipal Court for theft.
Mrs. Meeks arrived along with two other people to retrieve the disabled vehicle. Deputies noted suspicious behavior during their contact with her. A search of the vehicle uncovered additional heroin and drug abuse instruments.
Deputies charged Mr. Clem and Mrs. Meeks with possession of heroin and possession of drug abuse instruments, and served Mrs. Meeks with a Bellefontaine Municipal Court warrant for theft.
Man lodged for using weapons while intoxicated
Justin C. Mentzer, 34, of 146 Sugarbush Way, Valley Hi, was lodged for using weapons while intoxicated following an incident Saturday evening.
Deputies were dispatched about 6:30 p.m. to 31 Sugarbush Way in the Royal Coach Estates, Valley Hi, in reference to men shooting firearms in a wooded area near the campground.
When they arrived, deputies were able to speak with Mr. Mentzer over the phone while he was still out in the woods. Deputies noted that the defendant sounded intoxicated, and they asked him to come to 31 Sugarbush Way.
While speaking with Mr. Mentzer, he admitted to drinking six beers that day. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
