Timothy J. Tewksbury, 51, of 214 Pratt St., Apt. 9, was charged Monday, Nov. 14, with felony counts of domestic violence and vandalism and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to the residence at 12:50 a.m. and met with resident Tina Huffman. She told officers that Tewksbury repeatedly shoved her during an argument inside the residence and outside after she exited to get away from him.
The suspect had left but returned after officers left to search for him. He came out as officers were talking with Huffman and began yelling at her. He was instructed several times to come to a cruiser before complying with the instructions.
He was given a chance to explain his side but tried to walk away from officers. He was detained, handcuffed and escorted to the front of a police cruiser, at which point, he reared back and slammed his head into the hood of the cruiser.
Officers then forcefully moved Tewksbury to the side and opened a door to the rear passenger compartment. The suspect continued to resist officers and was pinned to the wedged between the open door and cruiser body until he willingly stepped into the cruiser. Soon, he began to stomp his feet and bang his head into cruiser cage wall. He stopped when officers threatened to restrain him further.
At the Logan County Jail, he was uncooperative but reluctantly complied when jail staff informed he would be placed in a restraint chair. A pipe for abusing crack cocaine was found in his coat pocket.
Officers noted and took photographs of a dent in the cruiser hood.
• Tyanna M. Parks, 29, of 450 Kristina Drive, Apt. 7A, was charged Friday, Nov. 11, with domestic violence and Brian K. O’Connors, 32, of the same address, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
Officers arrived at the apartment around 7:50 p.m. and spoke with O’Connors. He told them Parks removed a handle from her wheelchair and began beating him with it. He provided a cellular phone video of the assault. Officers note O’Connors had fresh cuts on his right wrist, left elbow and right shin and the wounds were bleeding.
He told officers he believes Parks is an unfit mother and officers noted clutter and trash about the residence.
Parks sister was contacted by officers and she responded from Marysville. She too believes Parks is unfit to care for her seven-year-old son and her four-year-old twin daughters.
Parks allowed her sister to take custody of the children.
O’Connors was turned over to Champaign County authorities for the warrant.
The case was forwarded to the Logan County Children’s Services and to the Bellefontaine Municipal Prosecutor’s Office.
