Cleta V. Horne, 91, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday afternoon, April 18, 2014, at Logan Acres Care Center.
She was born in Rushsylvania on Feb. 26, 1923, a daughter of the late Ross and Chloe Predmore Rumer.
Cleta married Clarence H. “Smokey” Horne on July 9, 1943, in Rushsylvania, and he preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1985. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Carpenter; a stepbrother, Bud Shoemaker; and a stepsister, Ferd Shoemaker.
Cleta is survived by her children, Phillip (Joyce) Horne and Fred (Beverly) Horne, both of Bellefontaine, Robin (Judy) Horne of Russells Point and Shirley (Clark) Dandera of Lakeview; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two stepsisters, Edna Moore of Newcomerstown and Peggy Shoemaker of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed crafts, sewing and crossword puzzles. She loved fishing, yard sales and bingo, and she really enjoyed watching old movies.
Pastor Jim Ellington officiates a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Indian Lake Community Church, Russells Point, where visitation is one hour prior. Burial is in Rushsylvania Cemetery.
