Zanesfield Petanque Club members Mohamed Boulahoual and Justin Bo Johns traveled to the Petanque Amelia Island Open last weekend in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
There were 178 doubles teams from 19 countries, with eight major world champions in the field.
On Saturday, Boulahoual and partner Yousseff Hassoune (New York) were 5-0 and ranked 19th. Johns and Tom Leon (Amelia) were 2-3 and ranked 105th. The top 32 played in the Main Concour.
Team Boulahoual lost their their first game to current multiple world champion Dylan Rocher (France) in the Main Concour, which dropped them to Concour AA. They won their next four games to win the Final of Concour AA.
Team Johns was put in Consolante B. They won four straight to reach the final, but lost to a team from Canada.
