Michael E. Yoder of rural Huntsville has announced his candidacy for the office of county commissioner. He is a lifelong resident of Logan County.
He is running in the May 3 primary election for a county commissioner seat that would begin in January 2023.
Yoder served as a youth delegate for Ronald Reagan at the 1980 Republican National Convention in Detroit, Mich., in 1980 and then again in 1984 at the convention in Dallas, Texas.
He was elected to the office of City Auditor in Bellefontaine on three occasions and won six times to be Logan County Auditor.
In addition, Yoder was twice elected to the office of President of the County Auditors’ Association of Ohio. He is the only person in the more than 150 years of the CAAO to hold that position more than once.
In addition, he was honored by the County Auditor’s Association of Ohio as the 2006 recipient of the Richard J. Makowski Award for the Outstanding County Auditor of the Year.
He is an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he currently serves as a deacon and is also on the board of trustees of the Logan County History Center.
