A wounded fawn was disposed of shortly after midnight Thursday when it was found to be fatally injured in the roadway along the 700 block of East Sandusky Avenue.
When officers encountered the injured animal in the road it was breathing shallowly and was severely injured. Two shots from a shotgun were dispatched into the deer, and it died.
The carcass was removed from the roadway and placed in front of 745 E. Sandusky Ave., and the street department was advised to come collect the fawn.
Police dispatch fielded three calls from residents in the vicinity of the fired shotgun shots.
