An Urbana woman was arrested for theft March 5 after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department confronted her in an arts and crafts aisle at Walmart, 2281 S. Main St., around 7:40 p.m.
Krista Reck, 40, was lodged in the Logan County Jail, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
Walmart staff told officers the suspect was recognized from past thefts in which she evaded their efforts to stop her.
That day she was back in the store and observed stashing items into a duffle bag. She also was observed placing clearance stickers from less expensive clothing items onto more expensive clothing. Store staff called police and they arrived to find her in the store aisle talking on her phone.
Reck was evasive while answering questions from officers, particularly about how she arrived in Bellefontaine. She claimed she was dropped off by her boyfriend as he ran errands, stating they chose Bellefontaine over Urbana because he works a union job repairing production machines for Honda.
She was stopped with nearly $185 in merchandise.
