Evelyne K. Borba, 26, of 8890 Township Road 239, Apt. 16, Lakeview, was arrested Friday after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department found methamphetamine in her bookbag during an 11:30 p.m. incident.
Michael L. Driscol of Belle Center told police he had loaned a sport utility vehicle to Borba a year ago in an effort to help her out.
He was meeting with Borba at Speedway, 329 S. Main St., to put new registration stickers on the license plate. He pulled his pickup truck to the rear of the SUV to put the stickers on when another woman backed it into his pickup. He confronted her but she would not give up the keys and drove off.
Borba was in the pickup at the time and she remained so as Drisol tried to follow the SUV on Auburn Avenue to Madriver Street. Borba jumped out of the pickup while it was on Madriver Street.
Officers found the SUV abandoned on Detroit Street. Inside was a bookbag containing a prescription medication bottle with Borba’s name, pipe for smoking methamphetamine and a small plastic baggie containing methamphetamine.
Borba was later spotted at Village Pantry, 200 E. Sandusky Ave., reentering Driscol’s pickup. A traffic stop was conducted and she was taken into custody.
She was lodged in the Logan County Jail for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
