Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded Monday morning to a number of vehicle break-ins in the area of County Road 39 that apparently occurred during the overnight hours.
About 7 a.m., deputies responded to 4594 C.R. 39, Huntsville, to speak with three residents at the home regarding entry that was made to three unlocked vehicles that were located in the driveway.
They advised that numerous items, including two wallets containing debit cards, cash and personal identifying information, along with tennis shoes and charging cables were removed from the vehicles.
Deputies located shoe prints in the snow in the driveway of the residence that were matched to shoe prints left at other vehicle break-ins in the area.
Monday morning, deputies also responded to vehicle break-in reports at 4435 C.R. 39, 4748 C.R. 39 and 5217 C.R. 39, and miscellaneous change was reported missing.
Investigation continues.
• Deputies also responded about 7:25 p.m. Saturday to the parking lot of Mad River Mountain, 1000 Snow Valley Road, Zanesfield, on a report of a vehicle that was entered and a number of items had been stolen.
Adam and Ashley Roark of Lancaster reported that a window of their pickup had been broken and the door handle on the front driver’s side also had been damaged. Items belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Roark and two of their friends were missing from the vehicle, including three purses containing debit cards, gift cards, cash, sunglasses and other items, and a backpack containing a Go Pro camera. Investigation continues.
Endangering children summons issued
Joe Aguilar, 43, of Urbana, was issued a summons for endangering children and was cited for no operator’s license related to a traffic stop about 6:50 p.m. Monday.
Deputies on patrol in the area of south U.S. Route 68 near Township Road 190 observed his southbound vehicle and knew Aguilar had just been issued a citation Jan. 30 for no operator’s license. The traffic stop was initiated.
While speaking with the driver, deputies observed Aguilar’s 2-year-old son sitting in the front passenger seat, only restrained by a seat belt and no in a child safety seat or booster seat. He said he did not have a car seat for the child, and his girlfriend picked up the child. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
