Valerie J. Emery, 44, of 1217 Firethorn Drive, was charged Monday with persistent disorderly conduct.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were at the residence shortly after 4 p.m. and met with Josh Emery, who told them he came home to find the suspect in the house in violation of a no-contact order as the couple navigate a divorce.
She allegedly set an item on fire in the garage near an oil pan and a gas can. Officers noted there were two children in the home at the time.
A deputy of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office arrived to serve the suspect with a civil protection order. He and officers advised the woman to pack a bag and leave.
The suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated, did not follow instructions and became upset with the lawmen. She slammed a door and threw her cellular phone onto the floor at which point she was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
The report was forwarded to prosecutors for consideration of additional charges regarding the intentional fire.
