Anastasia M. Haywood, 21, of Mt. Victory, was charged with possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday on State Route 366 near State Route 117.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office said she was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Tyler L. Smith, 21, of Belle Center, who was stopped for a speed violation.
Smith agreed to a consent search of the vehicle and deputies recovered a baggie with trace amounts of a white powder substance inside a metal tin, along with a black bag containing female clothing, along with sunglasses with a powder residue, a bottle with suspected marijuana residue. In the center console, deputies also located a digital scale with white powder residue.
Deputies interviewed Haywood and Smith separately, and Smith told deputies he was unaware of any illegal substances in his vehicle. He said the black bag belonged to Haywood.
Haywood eventually admitted that the contraband belonged to her and said the white powder was methamphetamine. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
Smith was issued a citation for speed and was released.
