Michael Bogard, 56, of Lakeview, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of a traffic stop Wednesday evening.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department on patrol shortly before 8 p.m. observed a westbound pickup on US 33 near Clermont Avenue, traveling 58 mph in a 45 mph zone and initiated the stop.
While speaking with the driver, Bogard, officers noticed signs of impairment. Bogard admitted to drinking alcohol and taking prescription medications earlier in the evening. He failed field sobriety tests.
Bogard was placed under arrest and his vehicle was impounded. He was taken to the Russells Point Police Department, where he refused to take a urine test. He was released to a sober driver.
