Corina A. Summers, 29, of 224 Highland St., West Mansfileld, was charged with breaking and entering and obstructing justice during a Monday evening incident in the area of 8724 County Road 2, Zanesfield.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report a second suspect, Jeffrey R. O’Hara, 45, is still at large following the incident, which involved searching for O’Hara in a wooded area on the C.R. 2 property utilizing K9 Thor, an Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation Unit and a Bellefontaine Police Department drone.
O’Hara also is wanted on two outstanding warrants — one from Champaign County for trafficking heroin and a second from Union County for aggravated possession of drugs.
Deputies were dispatched about 9:30 p.m. to the C.R. 2 address on a report of an alarm call.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a man walking toward the wooded area of the property. When deputies announced their presence, they said the man took off running south into the woods. K9 Thor was deployed at that time.
Deputies said the man matched a physical description of O’Hara. They also made contact with the property owners, who said no one should be at the property and that O’Hara previously had resided at the residence, but had recently been evicted.
K9 Thor attempted to track the suspect for about 20 minutes before needing a break because of the high heat index. The drone and aviation unit were unable to locate O’Hara in the thick wooded area.
While on the scene, deputies also located Summers on the property. Deputies believed she and O’Hara had climbed into a window of a barn on the property and when they opened a garage door, it set off the alarm system.
However, Summers denied being with O’Hara and said she claimed she had not seen O’Hara in about a week and a half.
Deputies located a cell phone belonging to O’Hara at the scene.
Summers was placed under arrest and was lodged in the Logan County Jail. A report has been forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for review of criminal charges against O’Hara.
