Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred during the Fourth of July holiday weekend on State Route 235.
Motorcyclist Amy Beth Lacey, 52, of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash about 6:10 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies report she was operating a northeastbound motorcycle near Township Road 250 when she failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the road, striking a ditch. The motorcycle overturned and Lacey was thrown from the vehicle before it came to a final rest.
Deputies said Lacey was not wearing a helmet. Following the crash, her body was transported by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.
Alcohol impairment is suspected as a factor in the crash, deputies report.
Damage was heavy to the motorcycle, which was towed from the scene.
It is the second fatal crash in Logan County this year.
