A suspect was arrested Wednesday, April 10, for physically and verbally assaulting her grandmother and later causing a scene at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched shortly before 4 p.m. to a residence in the 3400 block of east State Route 273, Rushsylvania, on a report for a well-being check and potential domestic violence.
Crystal Wilson, 33, of Rushsylvania, was seen standing directly behind the victim’s vehicle and pushing on the trunk of the car as she attempted to leave the property when deputies arrived.
Wilson was also seen screaming at the victim when law enforcement arrived.
The caller told law enforcement that Wilson is the victim’s granddaughter and the two share the residence together. The dispute reportedly was over belongings in the residence as well as a court order of protection involving another member of the family.
The victim told deputies that Wilson became irate and was screaming at her in her face, called her names and poked her in the eye.
Wilson also reportedly headbutted the victim and struck her with an open palm on the left side of the face and placed her forearm across her neck. She also reportedly grabbed the victim’s phone and would not allow her to contact law enforcement and spit in her face.
Deputies observed several injuries to the victim including cuts on her wrist and swelling and redness on her neck and chest area, a bump to her forehead and a swollen and red left eye.
Additionally, a small table in the living room was smashed into pieces, deputies report.
Wilson’s children, aged nine and eight were inside the residence during the incident.
Wilson was charged with domestic violence and was placed in a deputy’s cruiser.
En route to the jail, deputies report Wilson pretended to have a seizure and struck her head on the backseat divider. While almost to the jail, deputies said she started to have an actual, possible seizure and was transported to the hospital.
Medical staff at the hospital reported that Wilson was not having an actual seizure and Wilson began screaming at hospital staff. She was cleared by the hospital and taken back to the Logan County Jail, and was charged additionally with disrupting public services.
At the jail, she reportedly threatened to kill jail staff and told them she wanted them to die.
The report is being forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office and children’s services for review of additional charges and follow up.
