A suspect was taken into custody at gunpoint Wednesday, April 10, after threatening to fire shots inside a home in the 600 block of Florence Avenue, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
Jordan Brannan, 33, of Bellefontaine, was charged with aggravated menacing after witnesses told police he was threatening to “shoot up” the residence if he was not allowed inside.
Police were dispatched to that area of Florence Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. on a report of a male with a gun threatening harm, and upon arrival observed the suspect standing outside with his hand tucked inside a front pocket.
Officers attempted to make contact and the suspect began to approach with his hand still tucked in his coat. An officer drew his firearm and Brannan was ordered to go to the ground at that time and ultimately arrested.
A search of his person revealed no firearm. Officers made contact with the victim and a neighbor who said the suspect has previously been known to brandish a firearm and the victim told officers he believed he would have caused physical harm had gone into the residence.
Officers checked the immediate vicinity and never located a gun. Brannan was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
