West Liberty-Salem’s girls track and field team shows no signs of slowing down after recording another win Saturday at the Minster Invitational.
The Tigers bested the Wildcats 129-114 to win the 15-team meet. Marion Local was third with 65 points and Ft. Loramie rounded out the top four with 63 points.
Minster took the boys 15-team meet with 126.5 points, Marion Local was runner-up with 115 points, Versailles took third with 79 points and WL-Salem came in fourth with 72 points.
“This is a competitive meet featuring some strong Division III programs,” said WL-Salem boys head coach Aaron Lauck. “We did not have our best team performance, but our fourth-place finish was very respectable. I am encouraged by the effort of everyone and the number of personal bests.”
Emily Hollar sparked WL-Salem’s girls team win with first-place finishes in the 200 (26.2) and 400 (58.9). She also anchored the first-place 800 relay along with
Kaylee LeVan, Grace Estes and Madison Bahan (1:47.3) and first-place 1,600 relay along with Katelyn Stapleton, Bahan and Estes (4:07.6).
The Tigers also had a first-place finish from the 3,200 relay of Stapleton, Megan Adams, Ashley Yoder and Addison McAuley (9:45.4).
Placing second were Adams in the 1,600 (5:15.5) and Stapleton in the 800 (2:22.05) with third-place finishes coming from Selena Weaver in the discus (99-10), Bahan in the 400 (1:01.4) and the 400 relay of LeVan, Estes, Lilly Weaver and Stapleton (52.3).
Finishing in fourth place were Estes in the 100 (13.1), Yoder in the 1,600 (5:18.6), Adams in the 800 (2:28.5) and McAuley in the 3,200 (11:54.2).
Coming in fifth were Claire Longshore in the 300 hurdles (50.5), Bahan in the 200 (27.2), Selena Weaver in the shot put (31-1), LeVan in the long jump (15-5).
Adding sixth-place efforts were LeVan in the 100 (13.3), Mandilyn Weaver in the high jump (4-10) and Taylor Kennedy in the 3,200 (12:28.5).
WL-Salem’s boys lone win came from Tate Yoder in the 3,200 (9:54.9), while runner-up performances came from Isaac Brown in the 800 (2:03.6) and the 3,200 relay of Brown, Yode, Owen Harrison and Josh Spinner (8:28).
Placing third were Dylan Lauck in the 1,600 (4:34) and 3,200 (10:07.7), Andrew Kimball in the 300 hurdles (42.5) and the 800 relay of Kimball, Cooper Havens, Isaiah McGill and Jace Wade (1:38.7).
A pair of fourth-place finishes came from the 400 relay of Dawson Jenkins, Trevor Berry, Havens and Wade (46.5) and the 1,600 relay of Kimball, Logan Phillips, Isaiah McGill and Brown (3:38.8).
Tyler Douthwaite added a fifth-place finish in the pole vault (11-0).
WL-Salem hosts a tri-meet on Thursday.
Laker boys take 4th at Graham Invite
Indian Lake’s boys track and field team came away with a fourth-place finish Friday at the Graham Invitational, while the girls team finished in fifth.
Waynesville won the 13-team boys meet with 136 points, Piqua came in second with 98 points, Tecumseh was third with 80 points and the Lakers were fourth with 77 points. Triad finished 13th with one point.
The Spartans also won the girls meet with 120.5 points, Kenton Ridge edged Miami East 78-75 for runner-up honors, Piqua was fourth with 64.5 points and Indian Lake was fifth with 60 points. Triad came in 12th with 19 points.
Dustin Franks powered the Laker boys with wins in the high jump (6-0), 300 hurdles (42.9) and long jump (19-0) and also took second in the 110 hurdles (17.5).
Placing third were Brandan Rettig in the discus (117-10) and Brant Parsell in the 110 hurdles (17.6).
Fifth-place efforts came from Rettig in the shot put (40-10.5), the 400 relay of Reid Notestine, Colin Burba, Eli Slagle and Kaleb Hurley (49.2), the 800 relay of Caiden Gaunt, Ian Wischmeyer, Burba and Reid Vance (1:39.3) and the 3,200 relay of Jacob Huhn, Gavin Lowery, Grant McPherson and Tony Cummins (9:31).
Adding sixth-place finishes were Dalton Longwell in the shot put (38-7) and Burba in the 300 hurdles (46.5).
Winning events for the Laker girls were Reece Martin in the 100 hurdles (17.02) and the 800 relay of Reece Martin, Jalan Martin, Ava Huffman and Elayna Richardson (53.7).
Taking third was Reece Martin in the 300 hurdles (51.4) and the 400 relay of Alexxie West, Huffman, Raelyn Parsell and Jalan Martin (53.7), while fourth-place finishes came from Richardson in the 400 (1:06.9) and Reece Martin in the pole vault (7-0).
Scoring fifth-place points was the 3,200 relay of KaiLea Miller, Ella Wagner, Rachel Wahl and Hannah Metzger (11:28) with a sixth-place finish coming from Miller in the 800 (2:44) and West in the long jump (13-8.25).
Indian Lake competes again Tuesday at Riverside for the Logan County meet.
Calvary Christian competes at Riverside Invite
Calvary Christian’s boys and girls track and field teams competed in the Riverside Invitational on Friday and saw the girls team come away with a third-place finish.
Leading the Spartan girls was Lexi Reames with a runner-up finish in the 1,600 (6:25.02), while third-place finishes came from Abigail Reinhard in the 100 hurdles (19.1), Ruby Slemmons in the 1,600 (6:35.3) and Madhuri Cook in the 3,200 (15:13.9).
Taking fourth were Slemmons in the 3,200 (15:23.7) and Anastacia Rogan in the 400 (1:10.0). Adding fifth-place efforts were Slemmons in the 800 (2:56) and Reinhard and Hallie Howard, who tied in the 300 hurdles (55.9).
Coming in sixth were Reames in the 800 (2:58.4), Howard in the high jump (4-0), Reinhard in the long jump (12-8.5) and the 800 relay of Reinhard, Karlie Penhorwood, Anna Kratz and Cook (2:19.2).
Isaac Reinhard paced Calvary Christian’s boys by winning the shot put (43-6) and discus (121-0.25) and taking second in the 100 (11.4).
Placing third was Ethan Shepherd in the 3,200 (12:30.4) with fourth-place finishes coming from Shepherd in the 1,600 (5:37.9) and Reinhard in the long jump (17-8.5).
