Carter Rees, one of several elite arms in the Benjamin Logan rotation, showed again Monday why he is one of the top pitchers in the area.
Rees, a senior right-hander, fired a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the host Raiders beat rival Indian Lake 4-1 in a Central Buckeye Conference baseball showdown.
The Raiders maintain their spot atop the CBC Mad River division standings with a 7-1 league mark. They are now 14-1 overall.
Indian Lake, currently second in the Mad River division, falls to 10-4, 7-3.
The Lakers struggled to get anything going against the talented Rees.
The Raiders scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning and added another in the third for a 3-0 advantage.
After Indian Lake scored a run in the top of the fifth, Ben Logan responded with a run in the bottom of the frame and held off the Lakers the rest of the way.
Ben Logan’s offense collected six hits.
Brady Burrey and Rees each had a triple to spark the Raiders at the plate. Tanner Perkins added a pair of hits including a double and Trey Allen and Austin McGowan each had an RBI.
Lane Mefford led the Lakers with a double.
The Lakers and Raiders meet again Wednesday at Indian Lake.
