West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball team has its offense firing on all cylinders Saturday, thumping visiting Northeastern 74-12 in an Ohio Heritage Conference game.
The Tigers stay unbeaten at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the OHC. The Jets remain winless at 0-4, 0-3.
WL-Salem jumped out to a 19-6 lead to end the first quarter. The Tigers kept rolling with a 13-2 run in the second quarter to carry a 32-8 lead into halftime.
The Tigers dominated the second half by outscoring the Jets 42-4, including a 24-0 run in the fourth quarter.
Selena Weaver powered the Tigers with 19 points and seven rebounds, Madeline Hutton scored 14 points, Emily Hollar had nine points and seven assists and Gabby Williams added seven points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem dropped Northeastern 53-7. Caitlyn King and Sophia Hardwick each had 15 points to power the Tigers. WL-Salem travels to Fairbanks today for another OHC contest. WL-SALEM 74, NORTHEASTERN 12
