Indian Lake’s boys basketball team fended off a late rally by visiting Northwestern on Friday and held on for a 66-63 win in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division opener.
The Lakers even their record at 1-1 and are 1-0 in the Mad River, while the Warriors start the season 0-1, 0-1.
Indian Lake built a 20-11 lead after the opening quarter.
Northwestern was able to outscore the Lakers 18-12 in the second quarter, but still trailed 32-29 at halftime.
The Warriors continued to close the gap in the third quarter by edging the Lakers 16-14.
However, Indian Lake was able to stay one point ahead at 46-45.
The Lakers closed out the win with a 20-18 effort in the final quarter.
Luke Jackson led the Indian Lake offense with 21 points, while Zander Barnes and Caleb Wurster both had 17 points.
In junior varsity action, Indian Lake rolled past Northwestern 71-37. Maddux Hall sparked the Lakers with 23 points.
