Two local powers won their respective meets Friday as West Liberty-Salem’s girls and Bellefontaine’s boys both earned first-place finishes at the Reliant Mechanical Tiger Invitational at WL-Salem High School.

WL-Salem’s girls held off Ben Logan 117-113 to claim the top spot in the eight-team meet, while Botkins edged Bellefontaine’s girls 97-96.5 for third place.
The Chieftain boys pulled ahead to win their meet with 170 points and the Raiders were second with 136 points. Graham came in third with 59 points, Botkins was fourth with 57 points and the host Tigers were fifth with 48 points.
Ben Logan’s Coreen Crosby was named most valuable in the girls meet with two first-place finishes and two runner-up finishes. Bellefontaine’s Justin Clayton claimed the most valuable honor in the boys meet with their first-place finishes.
The Tiger girls were highlighted by their 1,600 relay team that won Friday with a new school, meet and stadium record time of 4:06.71. That relay consisted of Janie Kopus, Leah Cole, Taylor Lauck and Caylee Karg.
