Winnie Jo Pickering, 74, of Russells Point, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 2, 2021.
Winnie was born in Lima, Ohio, on February 22, 1947, to the late Lloyd G. and Virginia “June” (Tait) Pickering. She was also preceded in death by a sister Susan Jo Pickering.
Winnie is survived by her twin sister, Beverly Jo Pickering, and sister Ginnie Jo Pickering; adopted sister Vonda (Rempfer) Frances; niece Emily (Bart) Housholder; great-nieces: Haley Brooke Stidham and Hannah Grace Stidham; and very special bonus nieces and nephews: Adam Rempfer, BJ Housholder, Andrea Kill, Sherry Gardner, Jeff Holtzhawer, Holly Snavely, Michael Rempfer, and Morgan Rempfer.
Winnie was an active member of Bellefontaine First Church of God, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was employed by Lima Technical College where she taught Nursing for 37 ½ years. Winnie also worked for Lima Memorial Hospital & Home Health Care. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from OSU Technical College in 1972, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1980 from Bluffton College, Master of Science in 1984 from The Ohio State University, and specialized as a clinical nurse specialist in Adult Health from January 2005 – December 2009.
Friends may call on Friday, November 5, 2021, from 4-7pm at Bellefontaine First Church of God, and on Saturday, November 6, from 9am – 10am. Pastor Ray Headings will officiate Winnie’s funeral at 10am on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the church. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery.
