Area thespians will converge on the Holland Theatre this summer to showcase their talents in one of six statewide theater festivals.
Windmill Productions host the 2016 West Region Ohio Community Theatre Association Festival on Saturday, July 9, for an event that will feature community theater groups from Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby counties.
Founded in 1953 to promote live theater, OCTA holds six regional festivals each summer. During the festival, community theater groups have 40 minutes to setup and showcase an excerpt of a show they have presented to the public during the last year. After a 5-minute set tear-down, each of the three responders have three minutes to critique the excerpt. At the end of the day, two groups will be asked to showcase their presentation at the State Conference that is Labor Day weekend in Independence, Ohio, at the Holiday Inn, hosted by the NorthEast Region.
