DIENER |
One of three teens charged with the theft of three automobiles in the Lakeview area admitted his guilt Monday in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
Mason Diener, 18, of Bellefontaine, entered guilty pleas to a fourth-degree felony theft of a motor vehicle charge and two misdemeanor thefts in connection with the Dec. 2 rash of thefts. He will be sentenced July 18.
He was charged along with Danny Ellis Jr., 19, of Lakeview, and Brandon Davis, who was 17 at the time and was charged as a juvenile.
Mr. Ellis has previously entered guilty pleas to three counts of theft of a motor vehicle and will be sentenced July 11.
Deputies began investigating thefts in the Lakeview area Dec. 2 after receiving several complaints regarding thefts from unlocked vehicles in which GPS devices, money, binoculars, a portable battery pack, and compact discs were reported missing.
About 4:20 a.m. that day, deputies responded to 445 W. Lake St., Lakeview, where resident Whitney Hollon and Marcus Ratliff, 250 S. Oak St., Lakeview, reported their cars were missing.
Deputies later learned that Mr. Ratliff’s 2004 Acura TL had been involved in a crash on Elm Street. Ms. Hollon’s 2009 Honda Accord was located at 530 N. Main St. in Lakeview, near RV Wholesalers.
The third vehicle was reported missing about 12:50 p.m. Dec. 2 by Richard Geiger, 234 E. Harrison St., Lot N1, Lakeview. His 2001 Chrysler LeBaron was located about 7 p.m. in the area of Harrison and Jervis streets in the village.
