William R. “Bill” Heaton, age 82, of Conover, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Poor Farmer’s Campground, Fletcher, OH.
Born on December 4, 1939 in St. Paris, OH, Bill was a son of the late Roy and Mildred (Allebach) Heaton.
Bill married Joyce Nitchman on June 9, 1962 and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2018. Together they raised three children, two of whom survive: William (Tracy) Heaton, Jr., of Virginia and Lisa Heaton of Troy, OH. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Christina, William III, Taylor (Matthew), Matthew, and Nicholas; and five great grandchildren: Madison, Maci, Alexander, Zelda and Raylan.
Bill is also survived by a sister, Marilyn Smith of Medway, OH.
In additions to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia and a brother Roger Heaton.
Bill was a 1958 graduate of Graham High School, St. Paris, OH. He served his country in the Army Reserves from 1962 to 1968. He was a self employed truck driver for 48 years. He was a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge, Urbana, OH.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris, Ohio with Pastor Jeremy Spence of the St. Paris First Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, S. High Street, St. Paris with military honors. There will be one hour of viewing prior to the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
