A Logan County grand jury has handed up indictments charging Rosalie Kennedy, 62, with murder and second-degree felonious assault, both carrying added penalties of three years for using a gun.
Mrs. Kennedy reported shooting her husband, Gary L. Kennedy, 66, in a 911 call to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office at 10:35 p.m. Friday.
He was found dead on the kitchen floor of the 8100 Township Road 110, Rushsylvania, residence from a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to radio communications Friday night, Mrs. Kennedy admitted to shooting him during what may have been a domestic dispute.
Emotionally distraught, the suspect kept imploring the dispatcher to send help for her husband who had been shot.
The dispatcher asks the suspect why she thinks her husband had been shot.
She replies, “Because he pulled out a gun and he turned it on me and I shot him.”

According to the investigation, two shots were fired from a .22-caliber revolver.
One shot grazed the victim while the other hit his chest.
Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart said his office is not disclosing a motive for the shooting at this time.
Mr. Stewart and Sheriff Randy Dodds confirmed alcohol use was a factor in the shooting.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were the first on the scene Friday and ordered the suspect out of the house. She complied and was taken into custody without incident.

Sheriff investigators with help from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations executed a search warrant on the residence and collected evidence. The revolver was recovered by investigators.
No weapon was found on or within the reach of the victim. All of the other guns in the household were unloaded at the time.
She has been lodged in the Logan County Jail since her arrest.
The couple was involved in at least one prior domestic dispute that dates back 20 years to the month.
On March 21, 1997, both Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy were charged with domestic violence for an incident at the 8100 T.R. 110 property. Mr. Kennedy was arrested by sheriff’s deputies, while Mrs. Kennedy was issued a summons at the time, according to the Examiner report of the incident.
Bellefontaine Municipal Court records indicate Mr. Kennedy was convicted of disorderly conduct, while the charge against Mrs. Kennedy was dismissed. It is the only criminal or traffic offense by either party in the online court database, which contains records from the mid-1980s forward.
