The West Mansfield Village Council heard from operators of the West Mansfield Conservation Club on their plans to reopen the gun range and discussed nuisance structures at the February meeting.
The operators of the Conservation Club attended the meeting to update council on a plan to apply for a conditional use permit with Perry Township and reopen the shooting range in early March, as reported previously in the Examiner.
Council also entertained a discussion on nuisance buildings after receiving a complaint about an unsafe structure.
The village’ zoning resolution does not grant the village authority to demand action be taken on a dilapidated building, even if it is unsafe or a fire hazard, Administrator David Evans reports. The resolution does define these buildings as nuisances, however, and the Logan-Union-Champaign Regional Planning Commission recommended that council pass specific legislation dealing with nuisance buildings.
