Propane cannon will be used to drive birds from city
Residents in the Whispering Pines neighborhood soon may hear the thunder of cannon shots as the city tries to drive off a flock of buzzards.
Bellefontaine Mayor Ben Stahler told City Council members Tuesday the city talked with experts and they recommend using the city’s propane-powered cannon to produce booms to drive off the birds which nest in the pine trees.
In the past, the city used the cannon to drive crows from city neighborhoods.
Police Chief Brandon Standley updated the council regarding a recently purchased traffic messaging trailer.
It was deployed first on Allison Road, he said, and will be moved around the city as necessary.
