Longtime teacher, athletic director set to retire
Riverside Schools officials announced at the Tuesday evening board of education meeting that the district is planning to begin offering a preschool inside the district’s current K-12 building starting this fall, with the backing of current Title I funds and also a newly received grant.
Superintendent Scott Mann said he and the district’s new treasurer, Ronnie Fitchpatrick, have been working on this effort to determine how the program could be funded in the district. The Title I funds will help to pay the salary of a preschool teacher and a preschool aide in the classroom space that will be located in the elementary wing.
“This is an exciting development for our district; we’re very excited about this,” Mr. Mann said. “This will be a big boost to help our literacy approach by starting at a very young age.”
