The Huntsville Village Council passed a resolution to take control of a former Dayton Power & Light property and appointed a new council member during the February meeting.
Village Solicitor, Matthew Chamberlain informed council that Mayor William Jenkins signed an agreement with Dayton Power & Light to purchase the DP&L right of way property that goes through the village. The cost for the purchase of this property is $1 plus the cost of the survey and the property transfer.
Council passed a motion on an emergency basis to accept the property.
Resident Matt Groeschel attended the meeting and was appointed to fill the vacant council seat and Mayor Jenkins administered the oath of office.
Mayor Jenkins informed council about a March 16 Open Government Unit Certified Public Records Training sponsored by the Logan County Mayor’s Association at the Bellefontaine First Church of God; 1000 E. Brown Ave. A public records and open meetings session will take place from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., followed by lunch from 1:15 to 2 p.m., and concluding with an ethics presentation from 2 to 3:30 p.m. There is no cost for this, the mayor said, and council members were encouraged to attend.
Mayor Jenkins told council that he plans to obtain a written estimate on the cost of removing a tree, including stump removal, and inform the resident that is requesting the tree removal.
The next meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 14.
