West Liberty-Salem’s varsity volleyball team went 3-0 to win the Minster Invitational on Saturday.
The Tigers are now 12-1 on the season. WL-S opened with a 25-15, 25-14 win over Bluffton and then beat North Central 25-20, 25-12.
In the finals, the Tigers knocked off state-ranked Tri-Village 19-25, 25-11, 27-25.
WL-S trailed 24-21 in the last set, but was able to battle back to get the win.
Ally Gaver helped lead the Tigers with 32 digs on the day. She also went 21-23 serving with one ace and was 42-42 on serves received.
Gabby Williams tallied 16 assists, 18 digs, eight aces and one block for the Tigers, Michelle Smith had 12 kills, 26 digs, three blocks and five aces, Aleah Reed had four kills, Leah Ropp posted 10 kills, five digs and was 28-28 serving, Chaley Wade recorded 13 kills, four digs and two aces, Olivia Wilcox had 10 digs and was 32-34 on serves received and Naomi McGill was 22-22 servingwith three aces and had two digs.
The Tigers are back in action tonight at Cedarville.
Spartans grab volleyball win over Dayton Temple
Calvary Christian’s varsity volleyball team beat Dayton Temple Christian 25-10, 25-18, 25-15 on Monday.
The Spartans are now 8-8 on the season.
For Calvary, Anastacia Rogan tallied three kills and four aces, Erin Young had three kills and one ace, Isabel Schmidt had three kills, Emma Patton tallied seven assists and Jayla Wilson added four assists.
In the junior varsity match, Calvary was defeated 20-25, 25-16, 25-19. For CC, Kari Gantz had four kills, one dig and three aces, Madhuri Cook had two kills, Madelyn Trittschuh had four assists and Nora Thornton had two aces.
