Bellefontaine’s boys soccer team overcame an early deficit to beat host Indian Lake 2-1 in Central Buckeye Conference action Monday.
The Chiefs are now 3-5-2 overall and 3-0-2 in the CBC. Indian Lake drops to 2-8-0, 0-6-0.
Indian Lake took a 1-0 lead early in the game before Beau Salyer knocked in back-to-back goals within the span of a minute to put the Chiefs up 2-1.
That is the way the score stayed the rest of the game.
Brandon Moon and Keaton Stachler each had an assist for the Chiefs and Devin Berg recorded three saves in goal.
Both teams return to action Wednesday.
The Chiefs host Graham and the Lakers play at Springfield Shawnee.
Raiders tie Shawnee
Benjamin Logan’s boys soccer team saw a game end in a tie for the seventh time this season Monday as the Raiders tied Springfield Shawnee 0-0 in a Central Buckeye Conference match.
Ben Logan is now 3-1-7 overall and 2-0-4 in the CBC. The Braves are 0-6-2, 0-2-1.
The Raiders’ Breshon Jacobs recorded the shutout in goal.
“We have been playing really well lately and are unbeaten in seven straight games now which equals the best streak in school history,” said BL head coach Jamie Hughes. “A lot of people want to focus on the five ties in that stretch and the seven overall but I’d like to redirect them to the fact we have one loss in 11 games and have allowed three goals in the last seven games.
“Defensively we are playing terrific and we are controlling the run of play in every game, we are just struggling finishing. We have very good players all over the field and I know we will find our scoring touch again. We’ll take the point towards the league tonight and we will work for two points on Wednesday at London.”
