In a tribute to the grassroots of local dirt track racing, Waynesfield Raceway Park on Saturday hosted the Blue Collar Showcase.
There were four classes of racing. In the mini-sprints, Rod Henning set a new track record with a time of 13.215. Ty Tilton and Kobe Allison picked up the heat race victories, with Henning coming away with the A-main win. Allison was second and Tilton finished third.
Zach Schroeder won the modifieds feature and the $1,000 prize that came with it. Jeff Koz was second and Brian Post was third. Post, Schroeder and Brandon Vaughan earned heat wins and Schroeder set a new track record of 14.011.
Chris Hicks won the feature for the tough trucks. Gabe Twining and Mike Hicks rounded out the top three. Chris Anderson and Mike Hicks earned heat wins.
For the compacts, David Yoder picked up the feature win. Nick Glasgow was second and Andru Troyer was third. Robbie Tuttle and James Sorrell were heat winners.
Racing returns to Waynesfield this Saturday with the return of the USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets. Racing begins at 7 p.m.
