Dustin LeVan, 28, of 7974 County Road 54, Lewistown, was charged with a felony count of domestic violence and a first-degree misdemeanor count of using weapons while intoxicated related to an incident Sunday evening at his residence.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched about 10:10 p.m. to his address on a verbal domestic complaint. Upon arrival, officers met with a woman in the residence that advised that LeVan would not stop bothering her. After determining that no crimes had been committed, the defendant was advised to stay away from her for the night.
About 11:30 p.m., officers were dispatched back to the residence and the woman informed them that LeVan had slapped her in the face and threw a shoe at her.
Officers attempted to made contact with the defendant in a separate building on the property. Upon doing so, they heard what appeared to be the slide of a gun going back and a round being chambered.
Officers retreated and took cover behind a vehicle and gave LeVan verbal commands to exit the residence. Eventually, he exited the residence holding a handgun. Officers ordered him to drop the gun and he complied.
The defendant was taken into custody and officers noted that he had two prior domestic violence convictions. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail. Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
