Wallace K. Byler, 96 of Belle Center, passed away Thursday morning, June 16, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Hartville on Jan. 6, 1920, to the late Seth and Sadie King Byler.
Wallace was ordained a minister in 1946 and bishop in 1952. He was a faithful member of the Belle Center Amish Church.
Wallace will be greatly missed by his nine daughters, Judy (Leroy) Miller of Shipshewana, Ind., Ruth (Levi) Schlabach, Laura (Stephen) Miller, Martha (Lloyd) Gingerich and Amy (Mahlon) Coblentz, all of Belle Center, Nancy Byler of the home, Elsie (Robert) Yoder of Blackville, S.C., Rachel (Steven) Miller of LaGrange, Ind., and Elizabeth (Paul) Miller of Crossville, Tenn.; 58 grandchildren;109 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Coblentz of Fredonia, Ky.
Wallace was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Mattie Troyer Byler, whom he married Dec. 23, 1943, in Hartville. He also was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Leona Byler; an infant daughter, Sadie Byler; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; and six sisters.
Calling hours are from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Lloyd Gingerich residence, 4825 County Road 96, Belle Center, where a funeral is at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 19. Burial is in Belle Center Amish Cemetery.
Wallace loved being surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a friend to all.
The family wishes to express appreciation to all who were a part of their dad’s life. A special thanks to all who gave their time and effort in bringing in meals and visiting with him. He always enjoyed visitors. Please remember the family in prayer.
