Bellefontaine native Louie Vito was one of 10 riders Thursday to qualify for the halfpipe finals at the U.S. Grand Prix snowboard championships in Copper Mountain, Colo.
The Grand Prix series this year is being used for qualifying points to the 2018 Winter Olympics.
There were two heats Thursday, with the top five from each heat moving on to Saturday’s finals.
Vito scored an 82.66 and was joined by Scotty James, Ben Ferguson, Gabe Ferguson and Dannis Davis as the qualifiers from the first heat.
Moving on from the second heat were Raibu Katayam, Shaun White, Ayumi Hirano, Chase Josey and Greg Bretz.
The finals will be aired at 4 p.m. Saturday on NBC.
