Delmar E. Fogan, 20, of Bellefontaine, was transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital following a crash Tuesday afternoon, where his vehicle reportedly struck a building along State Route 117 and then struck a gas line.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating a southbound sport utility vehicle on State Route 117 about 1:40 p.m. when he swerved to avoid striking a stopped vehicle waiting to turn onto State Route 273.
His vehicle then went off the right side of the road and struck a building at 11325 S.R. 117. His vehicle also struck a gas line, causing a gas leak in the area.
The Logan County Hazardous Materials Team responded to the scene, along with a crew from the Logan County Electric Cooperative, who shut down electricity to residents in the area for about an hour.
The roadway was closed on S.R. 117 at S.R. 273 until about 7 p.m., deputies report.
Fogan was cited for failure to control.
