WASHINGTON |
Urbana University CEO Christopher Washington told Bellefontaine Rotarians Monday about a number of positive changes taking place at the school.
UU was acquired by Franklin University in 2014 amid severe financial and leadership challenges and declining enrollment.
Since that time, Franklin has infused $20 million into UU to improve its infrastructure, athletic facilities and course offerings, Washington said.
Washington, who has headed the university for the past 10 months, served previously for 13 years as Franklin’s executive vice president and provost.
Applications for enrollment have jumped from 260 for the fall of 2017 to 650 this year, the CEO noted.
UU now offers full degree programs online and the CEO wants to make a concerted effort to put UU on the cutting edge as far as technology is concerned.
“We’re adding a lot more tech to campus,” he said, which includes the completion of a new cybersecurity lab within the next two months.
