A Westerville man has been charged with criminal trespass, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest as a result of an incident Wednesday morning at Green Hills Community, 6556 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, that reportedly prompted a lockdown at the campus.
Officers of the West Liberty Police Department report Jeremy Ebner, 36, was arrested and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Officers responded about 11 a.m. to Green Hills Community regarding a trespassing complaint. Upon their arrival, it was determined that Ebner was residing in an apartment at the campus without permission. He reportedly had been informed the previous night that he was not to be residing on the property and was asked to leave.
An officer made contact with Ebner and informed him that the Green Hills staff was requesting him to leave the property. The defendant reportedly then became agitated and allegedly struck the officer in the face, at which time a physical altercation ensued as the officer attempted to take him into custody.
Ebner continued to resist arrest, and the officer deployed a Taser on him. Ebner complied, but then while being taken into custody, he began to assault the officer once again.
The officer placed him into custody, but while walking him to the cruiser, the defendant began to resist again and tried to run from the officer. He reportedly was taken to the ground, where the officer detained him until additional law enforcement arrived at the scene. Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and officers of the Washington Township Police Department responded to the officer request for assistance.
The defendant was transported to the jail.
