KENTON — A Hardin County jury took 2 1⁄2 hours Tuesday to find that Gerrick Anthony “Tony” Sheldon recruited his 15-year-old son to kill his estranged wife and her son by burning down their County Road 60 house in August.
Sheldon, 41, was found guilty of attempted aggravated murder, a first-degree felony; four counts of attempted aggravated arson, second-degree felonies; complicity to violate a protection order, a third-degree felony; and fifth-degree felony counts of complicity to unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance and complicity to possessing criminal tools.
He also was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of endanger children, the Kenton Times reports. Jurors did not find him guilty of a third endangering charge.
Complicity to aggravated burglary charges were dropped during the seven-day trial in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.
Sheldon will be sentenced May 1. He remains in the custody of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
