John Lee Ball, 53, of 900 Euclid St., was cited Tuesday for violating the city laws regarding amplified music. Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department had received numerous complaints but were not able to witness for themselves the loud volume.
Around 8:20 p.m., an officer parked his cruiser and used his department-issued bicycle to approach the home. He parked at neighboring residence and used a meter to record sound levels.
The officer observed that the suspect was playing one song from the rear of the residence and another — the theme song from the Western movie The Good, the Bad and the Ugly — from the front. Both selections were on a continuous play loop.
The level from the front speakers exceeded the limits set by city ordinance.
